

Irene M. Duis passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024. She was 81 years old. She was born in Waterloo, lowa on July 19, 1942, to John and Maria Sandoval. Irene was the oldest of 5 siblings. Irene is survived by her sister Margaret and preceded in death by brothers Mike, Steven and Greg. She met Larry Duis at a local dance and were married on June 6, 1964, and shared almost 60 years on loving marriage. Irene had two sons, Aaron who passed away in 2001 and Adam who currently lives in Georgia. Irene and her family moved to Las Vegas in 1979. She worked in a variety of financial institutions during her working career.
Irene's extended family includes daughter-in-law Melissa (Adam) and grandson Ryan of Atlanta, Ga. She also has a granddaughter (Nicole) (daughter of Aaron) and her husband Otis Mitchell and great granddaughter Isabella also of Las Vegas. Irene has numerous nieces and nephews spread throughout the country.
Irene was heavily involved in the Las Vegas Corvette Association in many administrative and managerial roles and participating in numerous road races.
During her lifetime, she traveled to some 30 countries meeting people from all around the world. Irene loved spending time with family and friends. Irene enjoyed attending family reunions, class reunions and going to car shows. Irene was never one to turn down a hot cup of coffee or participate in a good card game. Irene was renowned for her world-famous enchiladas and infectious laugh.
Irene loved the life she lived and lived the life she loved.
She will be missed by many.
