Howard Thompson, Jr. passed away peacefully October 17, 2015. A 63 year resident of Las Vegas, he was born April 13, 1922 in Sabetha, Kansas. He grew up on the family farm during the Depression and loved to share stories about those years. He married Cleta Smith, the love of his life, on September 26, 1942. They settled in Longview, Washington in 1946, where he began his long career as a general contractor. He moved his family to the fast growing city of Las Vegas in 1952 where he enjoyed success building apartments, homes and mobile home parks. He and Cleta enjoyed traveling in their motor home. As avid Runnin’ Rebel fans, they followed them to many games and tournaments, taking their motor home especially to West Coast games. They also took many trips around the US, often accompanied by their granddaughters. They loved to play bingo, bridge and other games. It was an activity they continued to enjoy with their granddaughters and great grandson, Noah, in their later years. There was never a dull moment with Howard around. He loved to tell stories and laugh!
Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Cleta, his sister, Donna and brothers, Bob Norman and Ivan. He is survived by his son Daryl (Patricia) and granddaughters, Nicole, Malayna, Michele Leos (Jason) and great grandson, Noah Carter.
