It is with profound sadness that the family of beloved Helene May Momi Szypulski (known by many as Momi) announce her passing on March 2nd 2025 at the age of 68 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Momi was born in Kaneohe, Hawaii on May 30th 1956 to Alexander Doo and Helen Lew.
Momi spent her childhood in Hawaii enjoying family time with her 7 siblings and parents by heading to the beach for picnics, sunbathing, and swimming. When she had enough money, she would always stop to get some ketchup and fries and share with everyone. This is where her love of ketchup began. When she was in her early 20s she moved to Milwaukee, WI where she met her husband, Ronald Szypulski, who adored her for the 43 and a half years they were married. Soon after they welcomed their one and only son, Neal Szypulski to the family. For the next 30 years she made Milwaukee her home by giving back to the community through the Catholic Church, volunteering, and working for both St. Veronica and the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. She took pleasure in taking care of her family and those in need. As an avid cook and baker, she would share her delicious treats to help put a smile on everyone’s face, from her doctors and neighbors to her sanitation worker. Her proudest personal achievement was graduating from Alverno College in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree.
Momi spent the final 15 years of her life living in Hawaii and then Las Vegas spending cherished time with her sisters and family, enjoying retirement. Momi really had a special way of connecting with everyone she met, spreading her care and love. She will certainly be missed by all who knew her. God has gained another angel.
Momi was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander Doo and Helen Lew, and her siblings, Maile Doo, Boy (Harry) Doo, and Kawena Doo. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Szypulski, her son, Neal Szypulski (Alexandra Szypulski), and her sisters, Dana Puni Doo-Soghoian, Lani Luminelli (Michael Luminelli), Penny Valenta (Don Valenta), Leinette Colby (Brian Colby), and her in laws, lifelong friends, nieces, nephews and their children who she loved dearly.
Her celebration of life service will take place on March 14th 2025 at Palm Cheyenne Mortuary located at 7400 West Cheyenne Avenue Las Vegas, Nevada 89129. The memorial service will begin at 1pm, followed by a reception from 2pm to 4pm.
