Helen Elizabeth (Black) Sullivan

AUGUST 24 1903- FEBRUARY 2, 1988

Helen Elizabeth (Black) Sullivan, 85 years old, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formally of East Orange, New Jersey, passed away February 2, 1988.

Born August 24, 1903 in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Black born in Hawley, Pa. and Catherine (McHale) Black, born in Ireland.

At 19 years of age Helen married Martin J. Sullivan Nov. 29, 1922 in Taylor, Pa.

Helen was a loving wife and mother, dedicating her time and talents raising three sons that grew to be hardworking men of integrity who always had that Irishman’s twinkle in their eyes.

In later years Helen gave her love and attention to her grandchildren. Babysitting, while teaching them reading, spelling and manners. Helen was kind, wise, and a caring grandmother, who lived a life to be admired.

Helen is survived by her sons Robert J., Edward J. and Martin T. Sullivan of Las Vegas, Nevada. Grand children Robert L. Sullivan Jr., Michele E. Sullivan, Edward, Darlene and Richard Sullivan, and Linda (Sullivan) Collins.

Her funeral Mass was held at St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church, and burial took place at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nevada.
