Helen Stainer beloved wife, mother, homemaker and small business owner passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Helen was predeceased by her husband of over 40 years, Gregg in 2004 and by her son Jamie in 1994. She is survived by her beloved family – Mark, Steven, Julie, Bob, June, Mary, Rachel, Tommy, Evan, Samantha and Christian. A native of Las Vegas for more than 60 years, Helen was active in scouting, running the family health food store and enjoyed being a part of the congregation of Griffith United Methodist. She was born in Portland, Oregon in 1933, where she was in charge of the weekly visit to Saturday matinees for her brother and cousins. She was also proud of her piano studies and competitive recitals, which would lay the groundwork for her later work teaching music out of the house when she had a family of her own. Her teenage years were spent in Long Beach, California enjoying clam bakes, going to the pier and the occasional hot rod race. Her family then moved to Las Vegas where Helen met her husband and raised a beautiful family. Gregg and Helen ran many small business over the years, but always loved their health food store most of all. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you go on a great trip, have a slice of Razzleberry pie at Marie Callendar’s or make a small donation to Vitamin Angels in honor of Helen, who was a strong believer in vitamins and living a healthy life ... as long as there was room for pie. If donating to Vitamin Angels, please note [email protected] in the honoree field.
