Helen L. Maple, 80, of Las Vegas, entered into eternal peace on Friday, February 26, 2016 at the Nathan Adelson Hospice Center. Helen was born on April 16, 1935 in Elyria Ohio, a daughter to George and Helen Guignette. She married Thomas Maple in 1954 living most of their lives in Ohio before moving to Las Vegas. She graduated from Elyria High School in 1953. She later continued her education at Lorain County Community College, from which she receive her Associates of Nursing Degree. Helen worked as a registered nurse at Lorain Community Hospital, in Lorain Ohio, and Sunrise Hospital and University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. She enjoyed watching figure skating, dancing, playing bridge and traveling the world. In her youth she was a competitive roller skater. Helen was proceed in death by her beloved husband Thomas E. Maple; and her siblings George Guignette, Jane Guilkey and Mary Ann Schneider.
Helen is survived by her brother, Thomas (Ildi) Guignette of Lagrange OH; daughters Michelle (Brian) Chatel of Creedmoor, NC and Deborah (William) Mann of Elyria, OH; sons Timothy Maple of Las Vegas, NV and Thomas Maple of Henderson, NV; five grandchildren, Daniel (Laura) Sadowski, Julianne Sadowski, Adriane McKenzie, Cortland Chatel and Ethan Chatel. Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 pm at the Palm Mortuary Cheyenne in Las Vegas, on March 3, 2015 Graveside services will be held Friday, March 4, 2015 at 10:40 am at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to staff at Atria Seville, Mountain View Hospital and the Nathan Aldelson Hospice Center for their support in her final days.
