Hattie Jeanette Graves was born, May 2, 1944 to Eddie and Viola Graves in Dinwiddie, Co. Virginia. Out of a family of five children Hattie was the only girl. She had four brothers (two now deceased). Her two living brothers are William Graves of Dinwiddie, Virginia and Samuel Graves of Baltimore, Maryland.
She spent most of her early years in Petersburg, Virginia and later lived for a while with her oldest brother and his family in Baltimore, Maryland. Hattie got most of her schooling in Dinwiddie, Virginia. Hattie was a fun loving person. She enjoyed eating out, music, movies and the company of friends.
It was in Petersburg, Virginia where she met her husband to be in 1964. They got married on September 5, 1965. In 1967 her husband Rochester Harris entered the U. S. Air Force and served his country for over 20 years. Hattie traveled with him to Hawaii and Spain. They had also been stationed in Florida and California before her husband’s final duty assignment in Las Vegas, Nevada. When they retired they lived for 34 years in Las Vegas, Nevada until her death on April 19, 2018. Hattie and her husband had one daughter, Tanysha Nicole Harris and four granddaughters. Hattie leaves her family and friends with many wonderful and cherished memories. Hattie had received the Lord Jesus Christ earlier in her life before she died.
Hattie leaves her family and friends with many cherished memories of her life. She is survived by her husband, Rochester Harris, daughter; Tanysha Nicole Harris, four grandchildren; Dahjanay N. Harris, Tynaya M. Harris, Yazmine D. Harris and Cheyanne M. Harris all of Las Vegas, Nevada. Of her four brothers, two are now deceased (John Graves of Baltimore, Maryland and Eddie Graves Jr of Petersburg, Virginia). Her two remaining brothers are Samuel Graves of Baltimore, Maryland and William Graves of Dinwiddie, Virginia. Her surviving sister’s in law are Amanda Graves of Baltimore, Maryland, Mary Graves of Baltimore, Maryland and Louise Graves of Dinwiddie, Virginia. She also leaves behind a host of dearly beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
Hattie was preceded in death by her parents; Eddie and Viola Graves and two brothers; Eddie Graves Jr and John Graves.
Hattie is gone by will never be forgotten. She departed this life on April 19, 2018 at 9:06 a.m. She died at her home in the presence of her family at 521 Wing Gull Court, North Las Vegas, Nevada.
