Harriet was under the tender care of family members at home. Harriet was born December 16, 1924 in South Bend, Indiana to Harry and Fannie Slack (nee Weiss). Harriet’s family moved to Denver, Colorado where she graduated from high school and where she met the love of her life, Hy Settle, in 1943. They were married July 1, 1945. Harriet volunteered at her daughters’ school, was active as a girls’ Brownie leader, and along with her husband, worked for a number of years at the Beth Joseph Synagogue, including being President of the Women’s Sisterhood. In 2001, Harriet and Hy moved to Henderson, Nevada, to be near family, and to help out at her daughter Karen’s company as a valued member of the Keystone Marketing Specialists family. Many will have fond memories of Harriet as her welcoming smile was the first thing you saw as you opened the door to Keystone each morning. Those Keystone members across the country were welcomed as she answered each phone call. At Keystone trainings, company employees made every effort to make sure they said “hello” to “Mom.” She was so loved by everyone. She worked hard at the office, and no task given her was ever left unfinished. Harriet was an avid cook and baker. Family members remember with delight, among other goodies, her crescents, sour cream cheese cake and brownies. Every year, she helped to make Passover dinner a special event for family and guests. Harriet also enjoyed knitting, as evidenced by beautiful afghans and sweaters. Harriet was a strong woman who followed and respected the traditions of family and culture with which she was raised. She was gentle and caring, but also could say “NO” in a heartbeat if that was necessary. She was a helpmate to her husband, and an example to her children and grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband. She is survived by her daughters, Marlene Settle and Karen Settle (Edward Mutton); three grandchildren, Heather Noveshansky, John (JT) Bauder, and Erica Mutton; and sister, Roslyn Shur. As her health deteriorated, she moved in with her daughter Karen, who provided the support needed to make her aging, and eventual passing, as comfortable as possible. Without a doubt, she will be missed, but the love and gratitude remain. Graveside services will be held at 10:00AM on October 2, 2018 at King David Memorial Cemetery, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas, NV. Family requests that memorial donations in Harriet’s memory be sent to the charity of your choice. King David Memorial Chapel assisted with these arrangements.
