

Gwendolyn Lynna Toney, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend of Henderson, NV passed away peacefully of pneumonia surrounded by family in the early morning hours of August 15, 2024, while hospitalized in Phoenix, AZ.
“Gwynne” Toney was born in Cleveland, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Frettie Jackson of E. Palo Alto, CA. Gwynne had three children Nikke Bereola (Sheri) of San Jose, CA, Remi Bereola (Angela) of Castro Valley, CA, Enitan Bereola (Letisha) of Jacksonville, FL, and one stepdaughter Kimberly Varner (Timothy) of Las Vegas, NV. Gwynne is survived by her loving and caring husband of 37 years Bruce Toney of Henderson, NV, her adult children and their spouses, her loving grandchildren which she adored Daijon, Adanya, Kaden, Miles, Ava and Jaylen. Additionally, she is also survived by her sister Jacquline Williams of Grandview, MO and brother Dwight Jackson (Cely) of the Dominican Republic.
Gwynne was a woman of many talents and accomplishments to include professional modeling. She graduated from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology and later with a Master of Arts Degree in Education. Over the course of her professional career, she worked in the private sector but found her calling in the public education system of San Jose, CA and made a top priority of developing the language skills of her students.
In addition to her professional career, Gwynne was a devoted Christian and came to know Christ at a young age as a member of St. John Baptist Church in E. Palo Alto, CA where she sang in the youth choir, taught Sunday school and participated in a wide number of church activities. Gwynne later became a member of South Bay Community Church in Fremont, CA where she was very active in several church activities and led the Angel Tree Ministries which connects the children of inmates with gift donors during the Christmas holiday season. Upon her retirement in 2007, She and her husband relocated to Henderson, NV and became participating members of Hope Church in Las Vegas, living the life of Jesus followers until her passing. Gwynne found joy in home decorating, reading, playing sudoku, RVing, international travel, holiday planning and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her warmth, elegance, grace and kindness.
Gwynne leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, loving children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, in-laws, a host of cousins and many very dear friends.
Visitation will be held at Palm Mortuary 7600 S. Eastern Ave, on Monday, September 9 from 3:00-7:00PM and Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday September 10, at 11:00AM Palm Mortuary 7600 S. Eastern Ave.
