Grace Contreras

December 12, 1950 – November 21, 2020

Our beloved Grace Therese Contreras, 69, of Las Vegas, NV passed away Saturday November 21, 2020 following an extended illness. She is preceded in death by her husband Salvador Contreras, parents Eulogio and Cecilia Silva, and brothers David Silva and Fred Silva. Grace is survived by daughters Michelle Gabaldon Noga of Albuquerque, NM, Anita Maria “Sunshine” Martinez (Wayne) of Taos, NM; grandchildren Michael, Julian, Mia, Mark and Destiny; siblings Herman Silva (Jo Ann) of Albuquerque, NM, Ralph Silva of Bernalillo, NM, Rosella Silva of Bernalillo, NM, Monica Martinez of Rio Rancho, NM, John Silva of Albuquerque, NM, Anthony Silva (Desiree) of Bernalillo, NM, and Lisa Martinez (Arthur) of Albuquerque, NM. Also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and many close and dear friends that became a part of her family in Nevada. She attended Bernalillo schools and completed the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy in Glynco, Georgia. She worked at BCDC in Albuquerque, NM and spent numerous years working for medical doctors in Las Vegas, NV including Dr. Lonnie Hammargren, and was an Administrative Assistant to him as the Lieutenant Governor before retiring. Grace had a servant’s heart and volunteered in many organizations throughout her life, including CASA, which was dear to her heart.

Grace was a devoted Catholic who lived life to the fullest. She loved her family and so many with her generous heart and helping hands. Her smile was contagious. She will always be remembered for her joy, her laughter and her jokes, her strength and most importantly, her big heart. Her light will continue to shine in pictures, the memories shared, and in the hearts of many.
