Gloria Jean Moten, 74, a retired casino supervisor,of Las Vegas, passed away October 27, 2011. She was born February 28, 1937 in Coahoma, Mississippi, and had been a resident of Nevada since May of 1978. She was employed by the Tropicana Hotel and Casino form 1978 to 1992. Gloria grew up in the church, as a result of that, she was a faithful member of Mount Avery Baptist Church in Friars Point, Mississippi. Because she knew God as her personal Savior, when she arrive in Las Vegas, Gloria immediately found a new church home at Metropolitan Baptist Church. Shortly after that, she became a member of Destiny for Glory Church where she spent her final days as the mother of the church. She was survived by her husband, Warren Moten; her special friend, Louis Lee; her daughters,Lee (Eddie Jean) Moore of California, Teareather Garner of Tennessee, Catherine Phipps of Tennessee, Ora J.(Lee) Marshall of Tennessee, Kathy Moten of Nevada, Glorietta Harris of Nevada, Christine Thomas of Mississippi, and Barbara Thomas of Illinois; her sons, Eddie (Armur) of Nevada, Tommy (Jackie) Williams of Mississippi, Sylvester (Mary) Williams of New Mexico, Lee Freddie Moten of Nevada, Warren Moten of Tennessee, Calvin D. Moten of Nevada, M.L. and Nathaniel Thomas; her sister and brother, Odessa Thompson of Wisconsin and Herman Young of Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Beatrice Williams; her children, Barbara D., William, and Morris Moten; her siblings, Elnora Robinson, Lillie Baines, Dorothy Lumpkins, Alice Williams, J.L. Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Ester Williams, and Homer Williams. A visitation will be held on November 17th from 3 to 7pm, and her funeral service will be held on November 18th at 11am. Both services at Palm Mortuary, 1600 South Jones Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada 89146.
