Gary Sternberg, 92, a holocaust survivor, backjack dealer, and cruise enthusiast, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, after complications from pneumonia.
Gary was a German immigrant who escaped the Holocaust with his parents Augusta and Herman, and sister Ruth. He gained his citizenship after being drafted to serve as a combat veteran with the US Army in the Korean War. Gary eventually moved to Las Vegas with his wife Noreen and had a 32-year career dealing cards at the prestigious hotel/casino, Caesars Palace. Throughout his life he owned several successful small businesses and was an avid inventor, having patented several different products over the years. Upon Noreen’s passing in 2002, Gary eventually retired and found love again with his faithful companion, Mary Lou. He is survived by Mary Lou and his son Adam. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on January 5, 2024 at King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, Las Vegas, NV, with a receptions immediately thereafter at Gary’s home.
