Georgia accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age under the leadership of the late Reverend D.L. McCall. Later, Georgia became a member of the New Jerusalem Church under the leadership of the late Reverend F.N. Addison, which later transitioned to Bishop James M. Rogers, Sr. in 1984.
Georgia met George Grayson in Louisiana and moved to Las Vegas where they had two beautiful daughters, Beverly Ann Grayson Bywaters and Carolyn Grayson.
Georgia loved working with young people and sharing her words of wisdom. She was employed with Welfare Supportive Services and served the valley’s most vulnerable children. In her spare time, she helped the elderly with their daily living needs.
Georgia also was an avid member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) where she received several honors for her dedication to their work, including Woman of the Year.
Georgia was well known for her enthusiasm and energetic personality on the sidelines of her grandchildren’s soccer games. And, most of the time could be found running up and down the sidelines yelling, “Kick the ball girl.” She was able to travel to several states to be her grandchildren’s biggest cheer leader.
Georgia fought a good fight and departed this life on Monday, December 25, 2017. She lived to experience 86 wonderful years with her family and friends.
Georgia leaves to cherish her memories, her daughters; Beverly (Thomas) Bywaters of Nevada; Carolyn Grayson, of Nevada; Two sisters, Magnolia Kennedy (L.C.) and Ruby Turner (James). One sister, Eugenia Washington preceded her in death. Three brothers, Joe (Vivienne) Watkins and Freddie Watkins of Nevada, Mark Simon of California. One brother, Lenzie Dowden preceded her in death. She also leaves to cherish the memories of her extended children; the Becker Children and Burton Children. Her precious grandchildren, Kamilah, Omar, Jelani and Zakiya and 7 Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
