Gene Lawson, 66, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2014. He was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa, son-in-law and brother. His biggest passion was his family. Gene was married to his devoted wife and best friend, Diana for 44 years. They lived a true ‘love story’. His favorite moments in life were with family, watching his kids and grandkids play sports and going to their school functions. He loved the football season when his family would get together every week to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers play. Gene was born on the 4th of July in 1948 in San Bernardino, the 8th of 10 children, and moved to Las Vegas as a child. After graduating from Rancho High School, Gene was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. In his younger years, Gene was an avid softball player and later began his passion for golfing. Some of his favorite weekends were golfing with his sons and golf buddies. The highlight of his golfing days was a trip to Pebble Beach with his family. Gene spent almost 30 years as a Chief Engineer at Circus Circus and Excalibur until his retirement in 2004. Gene is survived by his wife, Diana; his boys, Jim and Gene; daughter-in-laws, Danielle and Kelly; grandkids, Matt, Nate, Luke and Bella; sisters, Renee Kucera and Marlene Woods and mother-in-law, Renee Searles. Family services will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. Arrangements under the direction of Palm Downtown Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
