Gary L. Ratliff, of Las Vegas, NV departed this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on March 19, 2021. Born on January 31, 1944 in Forest, Ohio, he was the son of the late Denny Ratliff and Ollie White Ratliff.
He joined the United States Air Force where he served in Vietnam. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star, and the Republic Of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Following military service, he worked in civil service until his retirement. Gary enjoyed golfing, traveling, and listening to his country music in his truck. But his greatest love was being with his wife Jeanette and his family, especially his grandchildren.
Gary is survived by his spouse Jeanette Ratliff of 28 years: sons Dennis (Kelly) Ratliff of Virginia, Gary L.(Rosalinda) Ratliff II of California, and Thare (Yvonne) Zilkan of Las Vegas; daughters Deborah (Lou) Unkrich of Ohio, Denise (David) Black of Georgia, and Lisa (Bart) Schlehuber of California; 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; sisters Geneva Fox, Carolyn Cole, Joyce (Bob) Jacoby, Judy (Fred) Mengerink and brother Gene (Bernice) Ratliff, all of Ohio.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers, his former wife Reva Ratliff (Brown), and a grandson. A private family service will be held at Palms Northwest Mortuary on Sunday, March 28 at 11:00 a.m. Full Military Honors will be conducted. He will be laid to rest at a later date at the Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
