Gary Bailey, 75, passed away May 19, 2010, after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, in Las Vegas. Gary joins his wife, of 45 years, Harlene, in eternal life and leaves behind his brother, Jack Bailey; son, Greg Bailey; daughter, Sheryl Creswell; grandchildren, Madison Bailey, Dallas Creswell and Bailey Creswell; as well as many close friends. Gary was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Salt Lake City, and grew up near the Uinta Mountains in the town of Roosevelt, where he spent much of his time outdoors, fishing, riding and ranching. Gary possessed exceptional business skills with a quick wit and charming personality. He began his career touring the country selling magazines, where he met the love of his life, Harlene Burton, in Beckley, W.Va. They were married in 1960 and moved to Las Vegas to start a new life. Gary worked as a salesman at the Las Vegas Sun, then at KVBC TV 3, and finally at KTNV 13 as the general sales manager. After receiving their real estate licenses and working as sales agents, Gary and Harlene opened their own real estate brokerage, Western Properties, in 1980. They owned and operated Western Properties until Harlene's death in 2005. Gary loved his dogs and was an avid protector of animal rights and rescue, working with the Nevada SPCA. He also spent much of his time at Lake Mead on his Bayliner with his family. He was a wonderful man and will be truly missed by those that loved him. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., in Las Vegas. Reception to follow service. The family has asked that donations be made to the Nevada SPCA, at nevadaspca.org, in lieu of flowers.
