Gail L. Manly, 75, of Las Vegas, passed away August 16, 2017. She was born July 22, 1942 to Myra and Walter Manly, in Los Angeles, California and was a 53 year resident of Las Vegas. Gail was raised in Blythe, CA where she attended elementary, high school, and Palo Verde Jr. College. She moved to Las Vegas in 1964 and graduated from UNLV in 1966 with a B.A. in Education and then a M.A. in Education in 1984. She taught for CCSD before retiring in 1996. Gail was a wonderful Kindergarten and First grade teacher at John S. Park, Laura Dearing, and Howard Wasden. After retiring from CCSD, she returned to Blythe, CA to be near her brother Bill. She returned to teaching at Ehrenberg Elementary in Arizona for 5 years, earning Teacher of the Year for La Paz County in AZ. After the passing of her brother Bill, Gail returned home to Las Vegas. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William Manly, of Blythe, aunt Judy Nicholson, and uncle Bill Nicholson of Denver, Colorado. She is survived by her surrogate family, Cheryl Shaner, Todd Jennings, Charlene Sellers, Jason Evans (Cathi), and his children, Desiree, Deidre, Alyssa, and Robbie. Gail will be deeply missed by many friends in CCSD, Ehrenberg, AZ, and Questers Antique members. She leaves behind furry friends, Buddy, Maggie, and Missy. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, September 24th at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow at Palm Southwest Mortuary 7979 W Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89113.
