Frederick A. Morgan was born in Sacramento, California on January 7, 1925. He had no brothers or sisters. His mother was Anna Vanderweg and his father was H. Ray Morgan. After graduating from Queen Anne High School in Seattle, Washington in 1944, he was drafted into the Army Air Corp. (After World War II the Army Air Corp split into the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force.) Once he passed Basic Training he trained as a radio operator, a role that would become crucial in the war. He went by ship from the United States to Northern Africa. When the entire ship was quarantined for three weeks, it was very hot and the men cooled off in the ocean. After the quarantine was lifted, his mission sent him to Italy. There he excelled at his job as a radio operator, and received several commendations for his work. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He then enrolled in the University of Washington in Seattle where he earned a degree in Political Science. He was employed by the Social Security Administration and moved to Elko, Nevada where he met his future wife, Frieda A. Boyer. They were married in Indiana in 1957 and immediately moved to San Jose, California. He was promoted many times throughout his career with the SSA and with each promotion came a move to another city. He eventually arrived in Las Vegas in 1974, where he retired as manager. He then became the Director of the Foster Grandparents organization, where he was employed for approximately 15 years. He enjoyed a quiet retirement He loved history and he enjoyed taking the family’s Boston Terriers for walks in the early morning hours. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frieda Boyer Morgan and his three children: Charles Frederick Morgan, Laura Adelaide Morgan, and Margaret Morgan-Bouche, and one grandchild, Samuel Frederick Morgan.
