FRANKLYN GERAN Franklyn Lawrence Geran, 55, received his wings to be with the Lord, May 7, 2013, after a short and hard- fought battle with cancer. He was born to the union of Johnus and Hazel Geran, Aug. 9, 1957. A Las Vegas native, "Kicky," as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, was baptized at an early age at St. James Roman Catholic Church, where he and his brothers served as alter boys. He attended Madison Elementary, Las Vegas High School, Arizona State University and was a graduate of Eastern Arizona College with an associate of arts degree in communications while attending on a basketball scholarship. He was a former Nevada Test Site worker and a long-time member of Local 872 Laborers International Union. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnus; brothers, Mitchell and Newton. He leaves to cherish his life, beloved mother, Hazel; sisters, Dedra and Trisha; twin brother, Frederick; brother, John; and Godmother, Agnes Winder, all of Las Vegas; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and a special adopted niece, Brittany (Andre) Cammon of Eielson Air Force Base in Alaska. Family and friends gathering will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, May 13, at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., Las Vegas. Graveside services following at Palm Memorial Park-Downtown. A special heartfelt thanks to Mary Perez of Horizon Health and Rehabilitation who first treated Franklyn 10 years ago. Somehow, God brought her to Horizon and upon his admittance knowing his new battle made sure he received the best "comfort care" until the end, and to all the staff who will miss that "smile."
Arrangements under the direction of Palm Downtown Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
