She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Filomena will be remembered as a very exceptional person. Filomena Nizzari, 91, a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on September 1, 2014 at Desert Springs Hospital. She was born on June 1, 1923 in Newark, New Jersey to Maria and Alphonso Onofrietto. Filomena was one of ten siblings who have all preceded her in death. Her parents were one of the first thin crust pizza makers in New Jersey and they had several pizzerias; a tradition which she carried on in her early life in New Jersey. Filomena was the wife of Nunzio Nizzari and they were blessed with two children, daughter Patricia Victor and son Joseph Thomas Nizzari. She worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Filomena worked diligently and did her best to succeed in her career. She moved to Las Vegas 30 years ago and began a management career in the food and beverage area in the Casino industry. Filomena enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. Aside from her passion for cooking and the love of people, she enjoyed creating crafts. She crocheted beautiful afghans for family and friends. She was always willing to share her interests with others. Simply stated, Filomena was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Filomena leaves behind her a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Her spirit will be remembered by all.
