Eulalia Hernandez, 86, who was known as Lala, passed away on December 22nd in Las Vegas, NV. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a long time member of Holy Family Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic minister. Lala was a devout Catholic.
Lala was born in Mexico City, MX to Alfonso Martinez and Guadalupe Mendoza on March 10, 1937. She graduated from high school and received her Associates degree in accounting. She came to the United States in 1957 where she worked hard and was able to petition to have her parents and siblings join her in Las Vegas, NV in 1970. She was an IBEW union member and worked for the telephone company in Las Vegas for over 45 years. In her first marriage she had her two children Joaquin and Yolanda and raised them successfully as a single mother. Education was important, she was able to send them both to St. Joseph’s and Bishop Gorman high school, and they both went to college, UNLV and the University of Utah. Despite having a full time job, she managed to show up to their various sporting events on a weekly basis and take her children to church every Sunday. Later, she married Rogelio Hernandez the love of her life on May 17, 1997 until his passing February 17, 2015. She had a full life of spending time with family, including talking with her grandson practically every night, as well as watching Dallas Cowboys and Vegas Golden Knights games, and attending to her roses.
Lala is preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso Martinez and Guadalupe Mendoza and her husband Rogelio Hernandez, her sister Yvonne, her brothers, Alfonso Martinez, Joaquin Martinez, Angel Martinez and wife Beatrice, her sister-in-law Patricia Martinez. Lala is survived by her son Joaquin Yrizarris and wife Michelle, and her daughter Yolanda Hurley and husband Christopher, step daughter, Gabby Hernandez, also her grandson Joaquin Yrizarris Jr., her brother Fernando Martinez and his children, Jennifer, Christina, Charlene, Fernando Martinez Jr, her brother Angel’s children Angelica and Esteban, and nieces and nephews, Carlos, Christian, Caden, Niko, Gabby, Alivia, Faith, Grace, Josie, Napolean, Alex, Angelica, PJ, Sophia, Sebastian, Samara and Monse.

Please join us in celebrating her life on Sunday 1/7/2023 for a visitation at 4 pm and a rosary service at 7 pm at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. A funeral mass will be held on Monday 1/8/2023 at 11 am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 S Mountain Vista St, Las Vegas, NV 89121. A burial will follow at 1 pm at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
