Eugene Verbano, 90, of Las Vegas, passed away on September 18, 2014 at Infinity Hospice in Las Vegas surrounded by his loving family. Eugene was born July 4, 1924 to Amelia and Dominic Verbano in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years during World War II on the U.S.S. Louisville. Eugene worked at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in California for 18 years before moving to Las Vegas in 1989. He married the love of his life, Alba, in 1949, and they had three children together and spent 65 years in wedded bliss.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister Mary Margaret, his brothers Frank, Reynold, Joseph, and Robert.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Alba, his daughter Genie (Ron) Mattson, his sons Bill (Gail) Verbano and Gary (Karen) Verbano, his brothers Herman and Donald, his grandchildren Breck Mattson, Lisa (Ian) McFarlin, Alexander Verbano, and Christian Verbano, and one great-grandaughter, Lily McFarlin.
In leiu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Family Home Hospice at 8655 S. Eastern Avenue Las Vegas, NV 89123.
A memorial service will be held on Monday September 29, 2014 at 12:00 PM at St. Joseph Husband of Mary Catholic Church 7260 W Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89117. Burial will follow at the Southern Nevada Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.
