Eugene John Grabau (Gene) passed away on May 7, 2017. Gene was born to John and Martha Grabau, on November 14, 1937 in Eureka, SD. Gene was raised on a farm five miles NW of Lehr, ND. He graduated from Wishek High School in Wishek, ND in 1957. He attended Capital Commercial College in Bismark, ND and then serviced in the North Dakota National Guard for nine years. Gene married Marlene Paulene Moos, his roller skating sweetheart in 1959. They lived in Bismark, ND until 1967, then they packed up a few belongings and left for Lodi, CA. After a short stay in Lodi they moved to southern CA, where Gene worked for Fruehauf, Freightliner, then in May of 1969, landed a job at Western Airlines. In 1987 when Delta Airlines bought out Western Airlines, he was transferred to Atlanta, GA, where they built their dream house in Fayetteville, GA. In 2000, Gene retired and they moved to Las Vegas, NV. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, John and Martha Grabau, and younger sister, Luella Grabau. Gene is survived by his wife Marlene of almost 58 years. They have three children; daughter, Maxene (Jon), son, Gaylen (Renata), and son Kurt (Tina). They also have six grandchildren: Jason, Jesse, Leesa, Leslee, Jonathan, and Ashlea, along with three great grandchildren: Adrianna, Maddox, and baby Chase (who is expected in June). Gene was a born again Christian and was faithful to his Savior. A Celebration of Life will be held at Liberty Baptist Church on Sat., May 20, 2017 at 1 o’clock. 6501 W.
