Ellen Miriam Greenspan

Ellen was born December 15, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Sam and Esther Freet. She grew up in Atlantic City, New Jersey where her parents ran a guest house catering to visitors to the beach resort town. Ellen was a retired Advertising Promotions Executive for the Atlantic City Press newspaper and had an incredible career during an era when women were not typically welcomed into newspaper management.

She was a professional writer who also loved deep sea fishing, skiing and drinking Beefeater gin martinis while placing wagers at a horse racing track. She got her first tattoo at age 75 and carried a 38 caliber revolver in her purse. She led an extraordinary life on her own terms and will be deeply missed by the many people to whom she was a friend, mentor and family.

She is preceded in death by her husband Frank Greenspan, to whom she was married for 54 years. She is survived by her son Scott (Lori) and her grandchildren Sara and David.

Funeral service will be held at King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 10:30am with committal immediately following.
