Eleanor Wender, 93, a retired bookkeeper for a jeweler, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. She was born on April 20, 1921 in Milton, PA to Abraham and Pauline (nee Barsky) Rosenblum. Eleanor, a resident of “her true home” Las Vegas since 1968, moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to be closer to her family. Eleanor was a Lioness of Judah and a member of the Red Hat Society. Her adventurous spirit and feistiness was demonstrated by her love of people, places, and travel, where she became a worldwide cruiser, traveling to as many continents and experiencing as many cultures as possible. She was legendary with her mastery of crossword puzzles, oftentimes surrounded by her children and grandchildren, completing New York Times crossword puzzles in Guinness World Record time. Eleanor is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Irving Wender and sister, Lillian Shapiro. She is survived by her two sons, Ronald (Fern) of Encino, CA and Andrew (Nancy) of Los Angeles. Known as “Ma-Ma-Ma” and “Ma-Ma-Ma-Ma” to her grand and great-grandchildren, she is also survived by two grandchildren, Evan Wender of Oak Park, CA and Alison Wender of Los Angeles; two step-grandchildren, Laura (Brandon) Noll and Marissa Graff; two great-grandchildren, Naava and Arielle Wender; and two step-great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Madeline Noll. Family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, The Department of Anesthesiology Resident and Fellow Educational Fund (http://Cedars-sinai.edu/why-give). The fund is listed as "Anesthesia Resident and Fellow Educational activity 2198100". Funeral services will be at 1:00pm Thursday, March 12, 2015 at King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane. Burial will follow at Palm Valley View Cemetery. King David Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements.
