Edward Blake, 72, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 21, 2011. He was born July 15, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York and had been a Nevada resident for 7 years. He worked more than 15 years with the New York Transit Authority. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He is survived by his wife, Esther M. Johnson of North Las Vegas; sons, Edward Blake, Jr. of Newport, North Carolina, Vernon Blake of New Bern, North Carolina, Vincent Blake and Lemuel "Ron" Blake of New Jersey; step-daughter, Bridget Johnson of Las Vegas, honorary daughter, Sherilene Reovan of New Jersey; brother, Kenneth Blake of Anchorage, Alaska; sister, Delores Pitts of Brick, New Jersey, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends. Graveside Service will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at New Burn Memorial Cemetery in New Bern, North Carolina. Memorial Service to follow at VFW Hall in New Burn, North Carolina.
