Edna Royal

On February 6, 2023, Irene Royal passed away quietly in her sleep. Born September 3, 2028 in Murietta, OK to Elbert and Edith Cox, she was the eldest of their seven children, Vernon, Anna Nell, Joe, Betty Marie, Bill, and Jean. She married Clyde “Sunny” Royal on February 15, 1944. (He passed away on June 6, 2009.) They had seven children, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

They moved from Oklahoma to Arvin, California in 1945, and later to Henderson, Nevada in 1960 where they made their home.

Irene was a stay-at-home mom until Tony, the youngest, was in middle school. She then went to work for Clark County School District food service as a baker. She is fondly remembered for the peanut butter cookies and cinnamon rolls that used to be a daily staple in the school lunch program.

She was a member of the Henderson Community Church for over 60 years where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was a member of the Joy Circle. Her Circle friends have been friends since she first joined the group. She will be reunited with some of them in Heaven. Her church family was precious to her.

Irene had many hobbies. She was an excellent seamstress, quilter, crafter, gardener, oil painter, doll

maker, to name a few. She could make the coolest things out of the most random of items and everyone would want one just like it!

She also enjoyed attending various family sporting events and was a huge fan of watching major league baseball and bull riding on tv.

Irene is survived by five of her children, Jeannie Faiss (Don), Roger Royal (Katina), daughter-in-law Susanne Royal (Wendell), Rhonda Wendt (Richard), Tanda McGinty, Tony Royal (Sherry)

Preceded in death by her parents Elbert and Edith Cox, brothers Vernon and Joe Cox, sister Betty Marie, husband Clyde Royal, son Wendell Royal and Carl David Royal.

Services for Irene will be held on March 6, 2023, at Palm Eastern Mortuary beginning at 11:00 am. There will be a light lunch reception immediately following the burial.

A visitation for Edna will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. A funeral service will occur Monday, March 6, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. A committal service will occur Monday, March 6, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
