It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eddie Matala, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Eddie left us peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.
Eddie is survived by his devoted wife, Jovelyn Talaid. He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Maria Cristeta Maricel M. Masupil, and son-in-law, Antonio Masupil, along with his cherished grandchildren, Krysta Angelica M. Masupil and Kyle Mia Yzabelle M. Masupil. His son, Eddie Matala Jr., will forever hold dear the memories he shared with his grandchildren, Abigail Margarette I. Matala, Carl Edison I. Matala, Arnold Jansen Ilagan, and great-grandchild, IMarc Justine Matala. Eddie’s bond with his son, Mark Anthony E. Matala, and son-in-law, Scott Shives, was a testament to the love and respect they shared.
Eddie also leaves behind his step-daughters, Jhunelyn Talaid and Mary Grace Harrington, and their partners, Francis Lauritzen and Daniel Harrington, respectively. Mary Grace’s children, Gabriella Marie, James Dean, and Camille Alexis Harrington, will carry his legacy forward.
Eddie was a loving brother to Nestor H. Matala, Nelson H. Matala, Girlie H. Matala, Jecilyn H. Matala, and Maureen Pagcaliman, who will miss his unwavering support and laughter.
Eddie was known for his kindness, warmth, and unwavering dedication to his family. He touched the lives of everyone he met and will be profoundly missed.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life in Batangas, Philippines, where family and friends can gather to share their memories and honor the legacy of a remarkable man.
Rest in peace, Eddie. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
