Edda Gabriel made an impact on everyone she encountered. She was a beautiful person that brought joy to all that were lucky enough to know her. Edda was born in Strongoli in the Calabria region of Italy on January 5, 1938 to Carmine and Italia DeFrancesco. The second oldest of seven siblings, Edda grew up playing on the beautiful sands of Italian beaches near the village where she lived. A devout catholic her entire life she faithfully attended Mass with her family every Sunday and Holy Day.
In 1966, as fate would have it, Edda set off for the adventure of a lifetime and came to America after her grandmother became too ill to make the trip. She lived with her Zia and Zio in Southern California where she would eventually meet the love of her life, Anthony Gabriel.
Edda met her husband Tony through family friends. Tony’s family loved Edda so much that they begged her to marry him and stay in America. They didn’t have to try too hard as they became engaged in the spring. Edda and Tony were married at St. Peter’s Italian Catholic Church in 1967 and celebrated over 53 years of marriage.
She became a mother after the birth of Vittoria and again with Valerie. She was a loving, devoted mother that always wanted the best for her girls and eventually her grandchildren. Edda’s world revolved around her grandchildren. She adored them. Even moving to Las Vegas with her husband in 2012 to be closer to them.
She was called to rejoin her husband in heaven on September 26, 2021 with her children and grandchildren by her side. She is remembered by her daughters Vicki (Alan) and Valerie, grandchildren Rick, Sean, Jake, Nicole, and Quinn, and the rest of her loving family that miss immensely.
