On October 4, 1943 Dorothy "Dot" Canada Morgan was born to Mr. Ellis and Mrs. Mittie Colvin Canada in Austin, Texas.
She departed this life November 18. 2013 at St. Rose Sienna Hospital, Henderson, Nevada. Her parents, husband, three sisters, and three brothers preceded her in death.
She accepted Christ at an early age. Dorothy received her education at Austin Independent School District.
In 1960 she married Rev. Fred Wade: to this union one son Byron Zachary Wade was born.
Dorothy moved to Los Angeles, California to live with her brother.
Dorothy met and married the late Claude Robinson; to this union one daughter Claudia Danette Robinson Benjamin was
born.
Her work experience included Lockheed, and Hughes Aircraft. Dorothy excelled in her profession. Given the opportunity Dorothy quickly worked her way up the corporate ladder, and in 1992 she retired as a Quality Inspector, after 30 years of employment. She often talked about her experience with the engineers and other employees. She said that her department gave the final okay on missiles departing Hughes Aircraft.
In 1993 she married the late Howard Morgan.
After retiring, Dorothy and Howard moved to Las Vegas, Nevada and became foster parents. Together they reared several foster children. From 2000 - 2005 she held the title of Vice President of the Foster Care & Adoption Association of Nevada Board of Directors. She served in this position until her health began to fail. Dorothy loved children!
Her hobbies included traveling, shopping, cooking, and entertaining her family and friends.
Dorothy moved to Austin, Texas in 2008 to be with her sister. She united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Rev. GV Clark, Pastor. After returning to Henderson, Nevada she united with Rapture Ready Christian Church under the direction of Pastor Dewayne Smith.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: son Byron (daughter in law. Melody Wade); daughter Claudia (son in law Elston Benjamin Sr.); grandchildren: Shanae Wade.
