Dr. Dorothy Gabriel Mondejar passed peacefully into Eternal Life with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ August 4th, 2020 at 9:15pm at the age of 74. She was born on June 1st, 1946 to Vincente M. Gabriel and Angeles Peralta Cruz in San Clemente, Tarlac Province, Philippines. She attended San Clemente High School in San Clemente, Philippines and then went on to attend the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. After earning her medical degree, she immigrated to the United States to complete her medical residency training in New York City in Internal Medicine, with a specialization in Hematology and Geriatrics. While in New York, she then met the love of her life, Jess Doronila Mondejar. They married and had 3 beautiful children: Jeremy, Michael and Leila. She eventually moved to Charlotte, MI after her training to become a community doctor. There, she practiced Internal Medicine for over 30 years, created many lifelong friendships, and raised her family. She is remembered by many of her colleagues and patients as a wonderful, kind human being and an exceptional doctor. She later moved to Henderson, Nevada to enjoy retirement. There, she enjoyed spending time with family, going out with friends, eating good food, seeing shows, watching her Pinoy Teleseries, playing mahjong, and shopping for her grandchildren.
Dorothy was a amazing woman with a big heart that always showed her love to those around her through her generosity and compassion. She was smart and accomplished, but also humble. She believed in Jesus Christ as our Savior and in a loving Heavenly Father. She was always grateful for the blessings she received over the years and attributed her successes to her Creator. She always put others before herself, and embodied patience and love in her own quiet way. Because she loved so much, she in turn is loved so much by many.
She is survived by her beloved husband Jess Mondejar; her children, Jeremy, Michael, and Leila (Chris); her grandchildren, Sienna, Alyssa, Madeline, and Cole. She is also survived by her 2 sisters in the Philippines, Imelda Cruz and Elizabeth Torralba, and their families, as well as her 3 sisters-in-law, Ophelia Gabriel, Jocelyn Gabriel, Lina Gabriel and their families.
As a family, we would like to thank our loved ones for supporting us during this difficult time. We also would like to thank the healthcare workers at Dignity Health St. Rose Hospital in Henderson, NV for taking care of our beloved matriarch in her last days during this COVID-19 pandemic. Lastly, we thank our Heavenly Father for blessing our lives with such a wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, friend, doctor, and human being. May her memory continue to inspire us to be better each day.
