Doris was born January 22, 1935, in Mona, Utah to Sidney L. Rowe and Ruth E. (Dye) Rowe. She was the youngest of nine children. Doris graduated from Juab High School in Nephi, Utah in 1953. She was married to H. Lee Doss, Sr. in 1957 and together they raised two daughters, Chris and Nola, and one son, Herb.
Doris will be remembered as fun-loving and passionate about family. She made a home for her husband and children, where she and Lee shared a love of gardening, music and travel. While raising her children, Doris volunteered at their schools, including PTA, field trips, room mother duties, and helping with girl scouts. The family took several cross-country trips as well as shorter regional trips.
After their children were grown, Doris and Lee continued to travel, and especially enjoyed their Alaska, Panama Canal, and Mississippi River trips. Family reunions were another highlight for
Doris. She loved spending time with her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
In later life, Lee received a kidney transplant and Doris became very involved in groups supporting organ donation. She did many hours of volunteer work with the Nevada Donor Network and the Champions of Organ Sharing. She also belonged to the Senior Friends organization which visited senior citizens in hospitals.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband H. Lee Doss, Sr., four sisters, La Von, Oma, Karma, and Ruth, four brothers, Bill, Jake, Steve, and Claude, and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her three children, Chris Phillips (John) of Prescott, AZ, Herb Doss (Lin) of Las Vegas, NV, and Nola Lawson of Sun Valley, NV, five grandchildren, Melisa Faye, Jesse Doss, Josh Epperson, Adam Epperson and Travis Epperson, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled for Doris at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in honor of Doris be made to the Nevada Donor Network at nvdonor.org.
