Don Russell, husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Leslie, two sons, Gary and Glen Russell and grandchildren, Marissa, Kari, and Michael,
Born in Los Angeles, Don's early life was filled with sports, music, and travel. From a young age, he performed in dance groups and bands, displaying a natural talent for the arts. He loved sports and excelled at baseball and ice skating. His parents instilled a love for travel and horse racing, and that love continued all of his life.
Don served in the Army for two years during the VietNam era which led him to a career in the computer industry. However, his love for activity and adventure never waned. An avid skier and tennis player, Don was always on the move, embracing the love of sport and the joy of being outdoors. He especially loved his time on the ski patrol at June Mountain, California and that continued to be his favorite place to ski.
Don moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he retired and dedicated his time to sharing his passions with others. He taught skiing at Lee Canyon and coached tennis, inspiring many with his enthusiasm, patience, and expertise. He and his wife traveled throughout the United States, camping and exploring. He loved cruising, especially to Alaska where he could enjoy his passion for all mountains. Summers in Utah led to his love for golf. As Don got older (which he never admitted),he and Leslie took up dancing and especially loved to West Coast Swing.
Don loved to tell stories about his past lives and the people he knew in California, Colorado, Utah, and Houston. These places and people shaped him into the man he became.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
