It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Donald Meza who passed away on November 18th, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born in San Francisco on May 9th, 1950, Don had an energy that could not be matched. He left the small town of Guerneville, CA as one of the beloved “River Rats” to pursue his career as a chef in Las Vegas where he met Lulu, his beautiful wife and soulmate of 41 years. Don spent his 40+ years’ career in Las Vegas opening every major hotel on the strip and later became the Food and Beverage Director at the Sands. His dedication to his career was far outweighed by his devotion to Lulu and his three children. Don was the light of every room and made everyone feel like he knew them for years. Those he encountered always remembered his smiling eyes and welcoming presence, but he did not let you leave until you knew about his children. His favorite topic of conversation was his kids and how proud he was of them. In his retirement, he took care of his pets and made sure to keep Lulu on her toes. He also loved fishing at Floyd Lamb Park, working on his Porsche, and spending time with his sister, Barbara. Don became a grandfather for the first time in 2014, and spent his last few years spoiling his granddaughter, Ava, with everything she wanted. He recently became a grandfather for the second time to his grandson, Jack. Don is survived by his wife, Lulu and children, Eric, Dani, and Michael; son-in-law, Shawn; daughter-in-law, Eden; grandchildren, Ava and Jack; siblings, Barbara, Gloria, and David; sisters-in-law, Dianna and Marti; and brothers-in-law, Deloy Jr. and Lido; and nephews, Cliff and Ryan.
