Pastor Diego Trujillo left the loving embrace of his family’s arms and stepped into the waiting embrace of his Father in heaven on the morning of Monday April 2, 2018 at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He left his earthly body peacefully, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Diego was born January 12, 1950 in Medellin, Colombia to Andres and Zelly Trujillo. He was the middle child, the seventh of twelve children. He came to the United States in 1972 to study finance at Kansas State University, and from there he moved to New York and then Los Angeles. He was licensed as an insurance broker and operated his own business when he met the love of his life, Mery, in 1977. Mery, originally from Cali, Colombia, went on to marry Diego on May 14, 1979 and they had four children together: Adriana, Jose Luis, Sandra Patricia, and Diego Andres. They moved to Las Vegas in 1984, where Diego worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance and retired as a top salesman. He also worked as a certified interpreter and a minister from 1986 to 2017.
Diego lived his life with joy and gratitude. His positive outlook was infectious and he loved bringing a smile to the face of everyone he interacted with. He was always available to lend a hand to anyone in need. Diego was truly a man after God’s own heart, with a passion to help and serve everyone. Over the last 40 years, he faithfully served God and followed God’s will for his life. He poured his heart into his ministry at Centro de Victoria until his retirement last year. Diego’s greatest love in life was his family, but his greatest passion was to preach and teach the Word of God.
Diego goes on to join his parents, Andres and Zelly, and his siblings, Clara Eugenia, Luz Helena, and Jorge Alberto in heaven. He is survived by his loving wife, Mery; his children Adriana (Roberto) Damha, Jose Luis Romero, Sandra (Nicholas) Billmyer, and Diego Andres Trujillo; as well as twelve grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He also leaves behind his siblings Eduardo, Hernan, Beatriz, Ligia, Olga, Maria Cecilia, Gloria, and Sergio, as well as nieces, nephews, and many good friends. He will be dearly missed by all.
Diego’s family invites you to join them in a celebration of life on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Palm Eastern (7600 South Eastern Ave. Las Vegas, NV 89123). Reception will be from 4pm to 6pm, followed by a memorial service from 6pm to 8pm. Diego requests that guests dress in party attire, so that they do not mourn his departure, but instead celebrate his time on earth and his joy at joining his heavenly Father.
