Delia Velasco Jacob passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on July 2, 2020 in Henderson, Nevada at the age of 71. Delia is survived by her husband of 41 years, Salvador; her children, Rolando & Noemi, Lilian & Roman, Maria & Ron, Jennilee & Marco; and her grandchildren, Connor, Jonah, Hunter, Gabrielle, Cameron, Xavier, and Colton.
Delia was born February 23, 1949 in Afunan, Camalanugan, Cagayan to Aniceto & Eutropia Velasco. She was one of thirteen children, remembered for her kind and generous heart, known for her love of music and singing. Delia graduated Cum Laude from the University of the East in 1969 with a Bachelor in Business Administration and became a Certified Public Accountant in 1970 at the age of 21. Delia married Salvador on February 7, 1979. Together they raised 4 children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Delia retired after 25 years of service with the City of Philadelphia as Accounting Supervisor in the Revenue Department. It was at that time they relocated to Henderson, Nevada to be closer to their grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
Delia was a faithful member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, serving as a deaconess for over 30 years. She had genuine concern for the brethren under her care. It was her faith that helped her battle through her illness these last 2 years.
Delia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her children remember her as a selfless mom, always willing to sacrifice for her family. Together with her husband, they gave their children everything needed to succeed in this life. Her grandchildren know the true meaning of unconditional love because she gave them everything she had. Even in her final days, with the little strength she had, she managed to utter “I love you all”. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but the wonderful memories made with her will last forever.
