Delores Jean Harper, 61, a nineteen year resident of Las Vegas, Nevada departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Mountain View Hospital. She was born September 1, 1952 in Gary, Indiana to Malissa Kirk and Ernest Shadrick. In 1963, Delores, her mother and siblings moved to Seattle, Washington in order for her mother to be near, and administer to the needs of one of an older sibling. There she lived her early years, attending Nathan Hale High School, and Bellevue Community College. She was an accomplished athlete, running track and medaling in several hurdle events. Delores loved good food, socializing, playing cards, watching movies, and bowling. She was an avid reader, she would read voraciously. She received countless awards as a member of a nationally acclaimed bowling league. She had a keen sense of wit which translated into a wonderful sense of humor. She worked for many years in the food industry, retail sales, and as an administrative assistant. Delores, or Dee as everyone called her, met Albert Johnson in 1991 in Agoura Hills, CA. The twenty three years of that union were the happiest of her life. Most of those years Dee and Al spent traveling, reacquainting with old friends along the way - and just having fun. They traveled together for months at a time to almost every state of the union, including Hawaii. But, the state that they enjoyed the most was Louisiana - traveling several consecutive years to New Orleans. A lot of this traveling they did by automobile, which allowed them the ability to stop whenever they wanted and take in whatever sights they wanted. It was the most marvelous time of life for her. Dee is survived by her life partner, and soul mate, Albert Johnson; two sisters, Gwendolyn (Percy) Gilbert, and Carol Shadrick; one brother, Clarence Suggs; and a host of nieces and nephews. Arrangements under the direction of Palm South Jones Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
