Dean "Chip" Staley, 68, of Henderson, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at his residence, after bravely battling an extended illness. He was born July 21, 1945, to Daisy Jones and Arvel "Chip" Staley, in Anderson, Ind. He was a 1963 graduate of Anderson High School and worked full-time as an electrician for General Motors while studying accounting, graduating in 1967 from Ball State University. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. in Vietnam, 1968-69. He lived in California and was chief financial officer for Summit Health until retiring and moving to the Las Vegas area. He loved to fly and had a pilot's license. He liked fast cars, race car driving and enjoyed racing for fun. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and devoted friend. He started his own charitable foundation and was dedicated to helping others in need, specifically organizations supporting veterans, women and the homeless. He excelled in finance and the stock market and helped others with advice and investing. Chip was preceded in death by his parents. Chip is survived by his daughter, Michelle Staley Gallagher; sister, Dixie (Johnny) Johnson of Colorado; niece, Beth Richey; nephews, Jay and Tim Johnson; and many cousins. Memorial services with military honors will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89120.
