It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of David (Dave) Smith. He was born August 26, 1947, in Seattle, Washington to Al and Mary Lou Smith and passed away February 19, 2025, in Jacksonville, FL.
He is survived by his son, Justin Smith, sister, Cindy Murdoch (John), nephews Erik Hunter, John Murdoch (Karen), granddaughters Cheyanne Haines-Storm, Kiara and Kaitlyn Smith, nieces Mackenzie and Karissa Murdoch and great grandson, Rowan Haines-Storm.
David graduated from Western High School in 1965 and then joined the marines and served in Vietnam. After military service he went to work at the Rice Paddy Bar until it closed. His next venture was being part owner of the Cellar Lounge. After the Cellar Lounge closed, he moved to Artesia, New Mexico to be with his son Justin and his family. They moved a few times and settled in Jacksonville, Florida.
Bowling was his passion. In every Bowling Center he entered he created a new group of friends within the bowling community. He loved to travel, go fishing and mostly spend time with family and friends. Hawaii was his heaven on earth. He never met a stranger he could talk to anyone he met. He had a heart of gold and touched the lives of so many. He will truly be missed.
Although he was living in Florida, he always considered Las Vegas his home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Wounded Warrior Project or the Vietnam Veterans.
