David John Sigmund, 33, a police officer with the Henderson Police Department passed away on June 9, 2014 at his home. David was born December 2, 1980 along with his twin sister, Danielle, in Cass City, Michigan. David graduated from Unionville-Sebewaing High School in 1999. He joined the United States Marine Corps and had also attended Ferris State University. In February of 2003, he was deployed to Iraq to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom. After coming back home, he returned to Ferris State University and finished college, graduating with his bachelor's degree. David moved to Las Vegas in 2005 and went to work with the Henderson Police Department. On March 31, 2011, David was presented with the Valorous Conduct Award and the Life Saving Award for separate yet distinct heroic events. David was preceded in death by his father Dale Joseph Sigmund; brother Dale Joseph Sigmund II; grandparents June and Omer Schulz; grandfather John Backus; and grandfather John Sigmund.
He is survived by his mother Diane (Gary) Zofchak; loving wife Rachael Sigmund; twin sister and best friend Danielle (fiancé Mike Dover) Sigmund; beloved daughter McKinley Sue Sigmund; and grandmother Patti Backus.
