David Bryan Mitchell passed away at St. Rose Siena Hospital on February 23, 2022. He was born October 11, 1952 in Wellington, New Zealand, and spent his childhood years in Hamilton and Auckland, growing up and playing tennis.
After becoming New Zealand's top ranking junior tennis player at age 19, he was recruited by Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where he joined the tennis team while earning his degree in business and finance. After college, he played on the professional tennis circuit for the next several years throughout the US and Europe before beginning his industrial/commercial career which lasted his lifetime. Joining Dunn Properties in Orange County, California in the early 80s, he went on to establish an industrial/commercial brokerage company to market and manage projects for Saddleback Associates, later joining Trammell Crow Company and McLachlan Investment. He eventually entered the Las Vegas market, forming Industrial Commercial Properties.
Besides his love for tennis, David always enjoyed traveling, loving always to return home frequently to his native New Zealand to visit family and good friends, as well as spending time in Europe and, of course, his favorite US getaway destination, Hawaii. He was loved by all who knew him. He had a great sense of humor, quick to laugh and enjoyed good jokes and funny stories. His friends and acquaintances knew him to be always upbeat and happy, "the nicest guy in the world", always a loyal friend, and a tenacious warrior when dealing with his health issues. His keen sense of integrity was always exemplified in his personal and professional life.
David was preceded in death by his father, Douglas and sister Robyn. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Toppy; his mother June; his sister Debra (Gavin); nieces and nephews; and extended family members in New Zealand and Australia.
He was loved dearly and will truly be forever missed.
