Born in Hemet, California on August 11, 1961, David Leroy Meek began his journey through life. He was the third born of five boys to Nancy Courtney and Robert Leroy Meek. The family moved to Las Vegas in 1962. He grew up on Swenson near UNLV. Dave played baseball and football and loved coaching Little League Baseball. Dave’s life was about love. He loved his children Randi, Courtney Alan, and Josh and his grandchildren Reasyn and Jager, best of all, but he loved everybody else’s children, too. After his older brother Alan died of cancer, when Dave was 23, he never looked back. He lived and loved life and his friends like he could lose them anytime. Dave enjoyed ALL sports: hunting, fishing, skiing, boating, racing, camping, drinking. Dave didn’t like flying but he would endure it to get to San Diego and the beach. Him and Darla Hallford Meek were together 23 years and shared many fun times and trips with their children and friends. Being with Dave felt like you had a big safety net of love to protect you. He genuinely cared about his family and friends with an endless supply of love. His laugh made everything better and his smile was a treasure. He was “Big Dave” because of his size, but more because of his generous and loving heart.
