Darold George Haug

Darold was born Aberdeen, South Dakota to Harvey and Marion Haug on April 15th, 1947. He went to school in Roscoe, South Dakota and graduated from Northern State College with a degree in Accounting. He started his career in 1969 working for global construction giant Morrison Knudsen, which sent him all over the world managing various projects. He married Priscilla Otero of Pocatello, Idaho in 1977 and they had one son, Aren Darold Haug in 1981. At the height of his career at MK, he reached the position of Vice President of Overseas Procurement. Following the company’s dissolution in 1999, he transitioned to the nuclear waste industry, and served as Chief Financial Officer at several sites in Colorado, New Mexico, and Kentucky.

After Priscilla’s death in 2009, Darold married Anita Barton of Louisville, Kentucky in 2012. He left Kentucky in 2015 for a brief stint as an expert consultant in Las Vegas before officially retiring in 2017. He married Elizabeth Buell (née Allred) in 2018 and the two spent their retirement sharing their love of travel as they cruised around the world. In 2019, Darold and his son Aren became active members of the genealogical society Sons of the American Revolution. Darold was an avid skier, fisherman, bird hunter, and was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Darold is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Darold Haug and Marion Elizabeth Wilson, and his first wife, Priscilla Helen Otero. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, of Las Vegas; his son Aren, of Amarillo, Texas; his brothers Roger of Waseca, Minnesota, Karv of Elizabeth, Colorado, and Kevin of Henderson, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Roger, Karv, Kevin, and Aren.

Funeral and burial services will take place on July 22nd, 2023 at Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested toward a charity of your choice.
