Darl Dean (Tucker) Rose, 81, a retired teacher of the Clark County School District, passed away July 12, 2018. He was born on January 6, 1937, in Bonduel Wisconsin and was a resident of Las Vegas since 1963. Darl was preceded in death by his parents, Robert (Bob) and Charlotte Rose of Bonduel, Wisconsin/ Las Vegas, Nevada and his brothers, Lee Rose and Robert Rose of Las Vegas. He is survived by one sister, Sharlene (Shelly) Dion of Wildwood, MO; his amazing wife Shirley A (Wrege) Rose; children Dawn Rose of Penrose CO. and Patrick Rose, an Assistant Federal Attorney, in Las Vegas; daughter-in-law, Michelle Rose and three grandchildren, Michael Lane Brumbaugh, Adam Rose and Davis Rose.
Darl attended St. Paul’s Lutheran and Bonduel Grade Schools in Bonduel, Wisconsin. He graduated from Bonduel High School in 1955. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Concordia College in River Forest in 1960 and his Master's Degree from Northern Arizona University. Darl also continued his studies in Administration as a graduate at UNLV.
As an educator, Darl taught 3 years at Mt Olive Lutheran School in Houston TX. and 30 years in the Clark County School District of which 11 years were in administration at Garside Jr High School.
Darl was a charter member of Faith Community Lutheran Church and served on the Mission and Ministry BOD serving 6 years as Chairman. He chaired a Call Committee in searching for a new pastor and enjoyed his involvement with small group Bible studies. Darl represented his church on the Board of Directors of Faith Lutheran Middle School & High School. He served on the board for several years in different positions including six years as Chairman of the Board. This was his most rewarding service to his Lord. Darl’s faith was strong and he was so proud to be involved with his church and Faith Lutheran.
In the community, Darl was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for 35 years and a Vigil Member of the Order of the Arrow. He served on the Nevada State Youth Soccer Board of Directors for 14 years; the US Youth Soccer Board of Directors for 18 years and the United States Soccer Federation (US Soccer) Board of Directors for 18 years. He was also a member of the Las Vegas Sail and Power Squadron and served on the Bridge for many years.
Darl was the recipient of several honors during his lifetime. He received the American Citizenship Award in High School; was selected twice by the Nevada Jaycees as “Nevada’s Outstanding Young Educator of the Year” and in 1967 was named one of the four national finalists in Baltimore. He received the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association “Hero’s Award” in 1996 and was presented the Las Vegas Mayor’s “Key to the City”. Darl received the President’s Award and was inducted to “Life Member of the United States Soccer Federation”. He was also inducted into the US Youth Soccer Hall of Fame, the Region IV Soccer Hall of Fame and the Nevada State Youth Soccer Hall of Fame.
