Dan passed away peaceful on Thursday, August 17, 2017 next to his wife and companion of 14 years, Lya. He was 65 years old and succumbed to pancreatic cancer. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio to Charles and Virginia Lang on November 6, 1954. He graduated from Badin High School and spent his youth playing various sports and exploring remote areas of the wilderness, always accompanied by his dog.
Dan served 25 honorable years as a police officer for the Hamilton Police Department and retired in 1998 as a Lieutenant (in honor of his fellow brothers, "I love you man"). Shortly after retiring, he moved to Las Vegas where he thoroughly enjoyed his retirement. Dan met many cherished friends, including one of his dearest companions, "Buddy," a rescue dog.
"Dano" was a very passionate, patriotic and strong-willed man. If you couldn't find him on the tennis court, bicycling through (well you name it), or hiking through the wilderness, then he was probably spending his leisure time reading on the patio, working on house projects, learning new dance moves for nightly FaceTime visits with Kaidence, his granddaughter, or making sure the various neighborhood hummingbirds were fed.
Dan enjoyed life and always felt that he was the luckiest person alive. He was often referred to by friends and family as Dano, Dan the Man, Honeysito and the most cherished one of them all, Papa.
He is survived by his wife, Lya; nephew, Jay; stepchildren and significant others Robby and Natalie, and Amy and PJ; and granddaughter Kaidence.
A special thank you to Nathan Adelson Hospice for their loving care and support.
