Dana grew up in Oxnard and in Ventura, CA, graduating in 1987 from Buena High School in Ventura. From 1991-1999 she lived in Indiana before relocating back to Ventura. She later moved to Las Vegas, where she lived with her life-partner, Lloyd Dempster and their dog Charlie, until she passed away from an unexpected illness.
During Dana’s early years, her favorite things to do included playing softball, roller skating, and listening to Ozzy Osborne and other rock music.
Dana had a fabulous sense of humor that could not be silenced despite the devastating work-place injury in 1997 that altered the remainder of her life. She was a strong, resilient woman who wore her heart on her sleeve – and what a big heart it was. Dana loved animals, reading, cooking, crafting, her children, grandchildren, LA Dodgers, and was a patriot with a great love for the USA.
Dana has four children, Amy Alires (James), Amber Copeland (Jon Morales), Sarah Copeland (Donald Leavitt), and Dennis Copeland (Jade), and 11 grandchildren (Logan, Liam, Sophia, Emily, Nash, Emma, Michele, Jasmine, Dustin, Preston, Levi), all of Las Vegas, NV. She is survived by her mom, Diane Nicklas, stepdad Jerry McFarland, sister Jackie Baker, brother Patrick Bonar, and brother-in-law Ron Baker, niece Haley Banda (Tre), and nephew Ryan Baker (Cheyenne).
Dana’s passing was very sudden, and her family misses her tremendously. She will be remembered by hearts filled with love, joy, smiles, and gratitude for her presence in their lives.
