Charlie Sanders was born to Oscar and Julia Sanders in Los Angeles, CA on June 8, 1947 and was the youngest of nine siblings. He attended Centennial High School before bravely enlisting in the United States Army in 1967, where he valiantly served in the Vietnam War. For his heroic actions, Charlie was honored with a Purple Heart Medal and two Bronze Star Medals.
After an illustrious military career, Charlie dedicated over 20 years to the government sector, contributing significantly to the United States Postal Service and serving as an Adjudicator at the Veterans Administration. Additionally, he successfully owned and operated Sanders Security for 15 years.
In 1988, Charlie’s life took a beautiful turn when he met Denise, the love of his life. Together, they built a wonderful life filled with joy, love, and laughter. Charlie was everyone’s favorite uncle, bringing life to every party and family gathering. His love for dancing, music, travel, and storytelling made him a cherished presence in the lives of those around him.
On November 2, 2023, Charlie was called home to rest. He is now reunited with his parents, Oscar and Julia, and his siblings Oscar Jr, John Lee, and Margaret. Charlie is survived by his wife Denise, brothers Otis and Edward, and sisters Della, Lela, and Eliza. His legacy lives on through his son Yousef Sanders, daughter Olivia Sanders, daughter Delphine Turner, and son Lemoyne Turner Jr. He is also survived by six grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and close friends.
Charlie Sanders will be remembered for the love, joy, and positive energy he brought to the lives of those fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace and live on through the memories in our hearts.
