TSGT. CHARLES SPOFFORD U.S. Air Force, Retired Charles H. Spofford, 79, of Las Vegas, passed away April 29, 2010. He was born Aug. 17, 1930, in Providence, R.I., and lived in Taunton, Mass., and Vernon and Storrs, Conn., for many years. Charles was in the military for 20 years and retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1968. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and received a Bronze Star in Vietnam. Charles is survived by his wife, Lorraine; sons and daughters-in-law, Teddy and Lisa Spofford of Ocala, Fla., Todd and Lisa Spofford of Belleview, Fla., and Mark Spofford of Torrington, Conn.; grandchildren, Christina, Casey, Amber, Kyle, Kalene, Haley, Valerie, David, Paul and Matthew; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Laura Johnston of Tucson, Ariz., Sandy and Edward Solbos of Junction City, Calif., Wayne and Mary Morganson of Tolland, Conn., and Craig Morganson of Las Vegas; nephews, Robert Hayden of Lillian, Ala., and Rick Hayden of Methuen, Mass.; and many friends at Rolling Hills Community, in Storrs, Conn. Charles was predeceased by his sister, Patricia Hayden of Methuen. He also leaves his Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be at noon Friday, May 7, at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Boulder City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on behalf of Charles Spofford to the Disabled American Veterans. Arrangements under the direction of Palm Summerlin-Funeral Home, Las Vegas, NV.
