Charles Dwayne Self, 65, resident of Boulder City, has now entered into the arms of Jesus just minutes after a loving farewell from his wife and his adult children. Chuck fought a valiant battle with Covid-19 and on his 47th wedding anniversary, to his beloved wife, Cathy, he left this earth on August 24, 2021.
Chuck not only touched the lives of his immediate family but also touched many more lives throughout his life in many different ways and aspects. He was the life of the party and the one that made you smile. His character of hard work, love for the Lord, and love for his family was evident.
He was the son of Charles Clifford Self (Nancy) of Santa Ana, California and the late Kimberly Hofmann of Garden Grove, California. Born on July 25, 1956 in Waukegan, Illinois, he graduated from Orange High in Orange, California.
He raised his family in Orange County while starting and owning multiple locations of automobile service centers.
Since moving to Las Vegas, Chuck Self had been a successful entrepreneur and active in the entertainment business community in several ventures including Motorsports. In 2009, he created Vegas Off-Road Experience (VORE) with his wife, Cathy and his son, Mike, and merged with SPEEDVEGAS in 2018.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Self (Wineland); his daughters, Kelly Self, Brandi Self, Charlotte (Rob) Mjoen, and son Michael; grandsons, Kyler Wilson, Zane Wilson, Jace Self, JadonPaul Victor-Self, Jameson Mjoen, and granddaughter Faith Mjoen, and two more he included as his grandchildren, Jermiah Victor and Nathanael Victor-Smith plus a multitude of friends and business associates who will miss his energy, vitality and his great sense of humor. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Darlene Self; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Pete Robertson, sister and brother-in-law Davona and Oscar Villanueva, sister Connie Kammerzelt, sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Gary Stafford, and 25 nieces and 20 nephews.
Chuck was a member of Central Church Henderson and SouthShore country club and was frequently found golfing with his wife or son, challenging the most proficient players, chatting with the staff and enjoying the 19th hole. Chuck was also active in baja racing and the entertainment industry of desert trucks in and around Nevada and Mexico.
The family will gather for a private service on September 5, 2021.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:30 P.M. on Sunday, November 14, 2021 at the SouthShore Country Club in Lake Las Vegas, NV. Friends may RSVP to kidsserve@gmail.com or call 877-778-6565. There will also be a memorial golf tournament at 10:30 A.M. on Sunday, November 14th.
