Dr. Charles Eugene “Chase” De Long, 87, of Las Vegas, passed away at his home Wednesday, November 2, 2016. He was born April 3, 1929 to Leonard and Marguerite De Long, in Cleveland Ohio, and was a long time resident of Las Vegas. Chase matriculated from Miami University, Ohio in 1953 and served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 at the Quartermaster and Instructor Training School. He worked in the Las Vegas gaming industry from 1964-1970. He earned his MBA from University of Nevada Las Vegas in 1970 and completed his Doctoral program at Arizona State University in 1977. He taught at Brigham Young University-Hawaii from 1977 till 1994 when he retired as tenured professor. During his retirement years, he served several service missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Angie on October 29, 2016 and daughter Marguerite on July 9, 2003. He is survived by his sister Sue De Long of Florida, his son Lynn De Long of Ohio, his daughter Mary Stapley Hauser of Las Vegas, his son Chip De Long of Hawaii; eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 11 at Palm Northwest Mortuary 6701 N. Jones Blvd, Las Vegas, NV. 89131. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5160 W. Lone Mountain Rd. Burial will follow at Palm Northwest Cemetery, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.
